A beacon of learning, discovery, and care.

Located in Doha on Qatar Foundation’s 2,500-acre Education City campus, Sidra is a world class, ultramodern, all-digital academic medical centre. Designed and planned to the best international standards in health sciences, the facility offers specialist care for women and children.

More than just a hospital.

But Sidra is more than simply a hospital – the building also includes extensive new teaching and research facilities, alongside conferencing and auditoria. The client challenged us to deliver a ‘world class facility’ that would provide exceptional patient care, medical education, and biomedical research. Its close links with the local Weill Cornell Medical College means students will have the opportunity to develop and practice clinical skills and research.

New standards for care.

We responded by committing several teams from across the firm to ensure successful delivery of the project. Teams from our Manchester, Birmingham, and Bournemouth offices developed the general design to US standards – UK standards were used for ventilation and medical gases. The new site infrastructure was developed to be very resilient with N+1 – the general standard for infrastructure plant. The site also features extensive energy generation and distribution. Further to this, the scheme has sprinklers throughout and is fully air conditioned to Middle Eastern Standards.

Our resident engineering staff team worked locally with the installers to deliver the project and ensure that all standards were adhered to through the build. When complete, the project will set an exceptional new standard for medical care and research in the region.
