The Ministry, Ministry of Sound.

Remixing London’s co-working scene.

The Ministry is one of the most exciting spaces in the UK. A creative hub targeted at music-industry start-ups, it is a co-working space and contemporary members’ club designed to appeal to the way young creatives want to work and socialise.

Its unique offering includes a 36-seater cinema, sound-proof production suites, and a 70-foot bar at its centre. Located in a former 19th-century printing works near the Ministry of Sound club in Elephant and Castle, the project involved a full-scale refurbishment to transform the site into a unique and sought-after space.

Dynamic design.

Our work on other co-working projects contributed to us being brought in on this project.  Ministry of Sound saw what we were doing on similar buildings and were impressed with our ability to deliver to a quick programme, believing that the team could deliver similar aesthetics on this site.

Exposed services.

The complete refurbishment of the existing building and basement area made for a number of challenges. We took a holistic approach,  maximising the floor-to-ceiling height as much as possible within the set floor thresholds and existing structure. This meant we could maintain as much of the existing print works feel as possible while providing a cutting-edge working environment. The result is a services design that has the raw exposed feel the Ministry wanted that celebrates the unique architectural features of the old printing works.
