Designed efficiency.

We were tasked with designing a high quality and very energy-efficient services solution, plus the infrastructure and data collation methods to allow the energy consumption of the building to be monitored for a post-occupancy evaluation study. Working closely with the architect and interior designers to achieve a high-quality bespoke hotel environment and excellent services, we carefully crafted a sustainability strategy that responded to the project’s design and commercial constraints while achieving the demands of BREEAM Excellent.

High satisfaction.

Our solution provided a CHP unit, ecological improvements (via planting in the terrace restaurant), extensive energy and water metering, and attention to the environmental impact and responsible sourcing of materials. We designed the top floors to have naturally ventilated rooms, with a control strategy connected to the mechanical comfort systems. A two-year performance evaluation study, funded by the Government’s Innovate UK programme, demonstrated the building’s energy efficiency and its high level of employee and occupant satisfaction.
