Reaching the highest standards.

OpernTurm is a dramatic 42-story high-rise skyscraper. Standing at 170 metres tall, it has made a major impression on the Frankfurt skyline.

The development is situated in the Westend-Sud district, surrounded by a two-story arcade facing the Opernplatz, and extending into Bockenheimer Landstrasse – a location considered the best in Frankfurt. Completed in 2009, the building provides more than 89,000m2 of prime office and retail space and was one of the first new-build high-rise offices in Europe to achieve LEED Gold certification for sustainability.

Establishing improvements.

We were appointed to review the mechanical and electrical system designs with respect to commissioning, and to provide independent validation and witnessing of the commissioning activities. Our Operational Engineering team identified a number of areas within the original designs where improvements could be made. We then specified a range of recommendations in order to ensure commissionability of the systems to achieve the design parameters.

Site presence.

Our services also involved supporting the commissioning process:we ensured that the commissioning was planned and managed to meet the required specifications and standards.

We provided a site presence during this commissioning stage to oversee and witness the commissioning activities on behalf of the client. Finally, our team also undertook a review of the building cooling and ventilations systems as part of the technical due diligence process.

Our extensive works helped OpernTurm realise its potential as an office space that meets the highest international standards for functionality, quality, and efficiency.
