Quick turnaround for rapid reaction.
This project took a former RAF Training Base and turned it into a modern facility for the Allied Rapid Reaction Corps (ARRC). The station sits near Innsworth in Gloucestershire, and needed to be fully refurbished into sleeping accommodation, offices (including classified communications areas), medical centre, and mess facilities. New buildings included a briefing theatre, MT workshop, nursery, and armoury. The existing energy centre and site heating infrastructure also needed to be either upgraded or replaced.
Ready for action.
Our dedicated Defence experts brought extensive knowledge of the design requirements to the project. They also supported the procurement process, in close liaison with the M&E installer to improve – through design – the standardisation of equipment used across the site.
This all combined to create a smooth delivery process throughout the project and ensured completed designs met the brief requirements with minimal comments from the client.
Optimised efficiency.
It was integral that the facility was ready and operational within time and budget. We were also challenged with making the buildings as easy to maintain as possible, and minimise building energy usage across the site.
During the refurbishment phase we were on site every week. This regular site attendance allowed us to provide design assistance to overcome immediate issues and minimise any delays due to the
unknown characteristics of the existing buildings – efficiency at its finest.
