David Matthews
Director
I joined Hoare Lea as a graduate in 2000, having gained a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. I was lucky enough to be part of the Hoare Lea IPD and CPD training scheme, becoming a Chartered Engineer within five years of graduating. During the last 10 years, I have concentrated on delivering workspace and residential buildings in London, discovering how technology will be the next big game changer in the construction industry.
Engineering human experiences.
Working on the King’s Cross development has been a rewarding experience. It is always satisfying to work with an enthusiastic developer, turning industrial wasteland into a thriving place to work, live and shop.
A defining moment.
A real turning point in my career has been founding the Intelligent Buildings group. Creating this group of specialists, from software integrators to audiovisual and security experts, has given us the opportunity to make significant improvements to the way our clients’ developments react over the course of their use, improving the wellbeing and efficiency that buildings can offer.
