Celebrating our AV awards shortlisting.
The Hive Theatre is a standout Education Project of the Year.
The talents of our Audiovisual team have been recognised by the AV Awards 2018, one of the most prestigious awards in the industry.
The shortlisting is for the team’s work on the Hive Theatre at Birmingham City University – a unique learning and teaching environment that pushed the boundaries of possibility when it came to audiovisual experience.
The awards, which recognise and reward excellence across the audiovisual industry, shortlisted the Hive Theatre in the 2018 Education Project of the Year category.
The project goes up against other education buildings across the globe, such as the University of South Australia’s Cancer Research Institute and University of California’s Haas School of Business.
Commenting on the project, Steve Hipwell, senior IT project manager at Birmingham City University, said:
“We were excited about the concept of delivering an experimental learning space from the earliest design stages and were proud to launch the amazing new space for use this year. The room is a unique in-the-round collaborative environment that promotes content sharing and student interaction. The adoption has been amazing, with students and teaching faculty diving right into all the new functional possibilities and methods delivered by a very advanced AV system. The new facility has been a great success and is enabling us to undertake new studies into the effectiveness of alternative ways of learning. It has been a genuine pleasure to have the specialist design skills of Hoare Lea on the project, developing the design with us and managing its successful delivery from start to finish.”
Best of luck to our AV team at the awards in September. In the meantime, read more about the unique project here.
