A critical care unit.

The Sub-Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Centre provides help to new-born babies who have significant needs. To modernise the unit, we helped extend and redevelop the existing building, meaning the dedicated team can continue to provide a life changing service.

Forward planning.

Without impacting clinical performance, we compiled the existing services information to form our strategy and understand the spatial requirements for each specialised care unit. We incorporated temporary ventilation,  heating and cooling to facilitate the commissioning and ensured limited impact to the operations.

Allowing work to continue.

Open 24/7, we had to make it possible for the unit to remain functional throughout construction. Through using a considerate phasing programme, high levels of care were maintained and the maternity operating theatre and special care baby unit kept its doors open during the whole redevelopment meaning no one was turned away.
