Helping us visualise project possibilities.

I studied…

… 3D animation at Swansea Metropolitan University. During this time, I saw how 3D animation is a beautiful mixture of technical and creative skills.

Before joining Hoare lea…

…I worked in the events industry where I designed on screen content for award shows and corporate events. I’ve also worked in the airline industry creating branded content, entertainment systems and animated safety videos.

I started my position…

…as a Senior Visualisation Specialist in 2013 and I now help engineers across the firm bring their concepts to life.

The process begins when I get approached by a team who have a strategy or design that needs visualising. Together we find the best approach based on the intended audience, level of detail, time/budget and delivery method. I then help them to demonstrate their ideas in a clear and engaging way suitable for the client. This can be anything from a static visual to animations or a fully interactive VR experience.

Content creation…

…is my favourite part of my job. I use software from both the visual effects and gaming industries which both are at the forefront of modern technology.

The tools and techniques I use are constantly evolving meaning I am always able to develop my skills, learn new techniques and in turn create things that were bigger and better than ever before.

I enjoy the way that 3D Visualisation is a real mix of science, technology and art. There is always more to know and master.

Realtime visualisation…

…is a growing area and will soon become a common technique. The tools that help achieve this are becoming more accessible, reliable and easier to use. Some of this is down to advances in gaming industry and people’s expectations. Because of this…

…teams of the of the future will need to be made up of more people with experience in making computer games as well as visual effects.

One of my projects…

… was to create a visualisation demonstrating vibrations in a gym. I used vibration simulation data to drive the animation and then demonstrated how the vibrations would travel across the space, and the subsequent impact that would have on the surrounding area.

I think that…

…artificial intelligence and machine learning will play a bigger part in the tools we use daily too. This will allow us to achieve more for our clients in less time.

In my spare time…

…I spend a lot of time playing with my two young children. I enjoy running and I do this for the benefits it has on both my physical and mental health. I also enjoy the competitive side of this sport and I run half marathons and Parkruns as often as I can.

I also love films and when I get the chance, I like to go to the cinema to watch the latest blockbusters.
