Alpha
Strategic distribution.
Frasers Group has appointed us to provide planning stage advisory services in relation to utility infrastructure at the proposed development Ansty, Warwickshire. Project Alpha, is a strategic distribution and warehouse facility which comprises 5 no: warehouse units and associated support buildings including training and retail facilities.
Challenges.
Our challenges are to facilitate the construction of the new development, the existing 132kV overhead lines will be required to be diverted from our site. Existing 33 & 11kV underground cables and a strategic water main will also be required to be diverted to the edge of the red line boundary to ensure that they are outside of the works area ensuring the new buildings can be constructed.
Installations.
We approached National Grid with the proposal to divert the overhead lines and underground cables within the redline site boundary to ensure ease and minimise delay to this element. This will require the installation / provision of new grounding pylons to the perimeter of our site and new cables provided between the two pylons. We also engaged with Severn Trent Water with the proposal to divert the strategic water main. This will require the installation of new pipework around the site perimeter.
Value.
We provided coordinated utility diversion drawings that were submitted as part of the planning application. We also assisted the client and National Grid during the production of the 132kV overhead line diversion feasibility study. Additionally, we also advised the planning consultant and landscape architect on the easement and wayleave requirements of the incumbent utility providers.
