Hoare Lea supports Bristol Galleries redevelopment.
A benchmark for future development within the heart of the city.
We are working with Deeley Freed and AHMM architects to redevelop The Galleries Shopping Centre site, a 4.8-acre city centre in Bristol.
We supported the recently approved outline planning application and developed the Environmental Impact Assessment providing multi-disciplinary support including Sustainability, Acoustics, Air Quality, Security, External lighting, Vertical Transport, Utilities and MEP.
The proposals involve replacing the existing shopping centre and multistorey car park with an impressive mixed-use scheme with homes, workspace, community space and retail, new squares and much more greenery connecting across to neighbouring Castle Park.
Responding to our client’s ambition to go beyond current sustainability policy and compliance, we made recommendations to re-use the existing basement and foundations, saving 13,000 tonnes of embodied carbon emissions. Our sustainability proposal also sets a target of more than 40% reduction in operational emissions, to be achieved partly by connecting to the Bristol heat network and installing rooftop solar panels.
