Working on some of the UK's most interesting buildings.

I started college in 2015 as a mechanical engineer…

…As I transferred to University of Strathclyde for my second year, I decided to switch to a degree in product design engineering and graduated in 2019 with a master’s degree. Following my graduation, I worked in Chile with architecture students at a university for five months. Previously I worked with a plastics manufacturing company as a design engineer through 2017 – 2018 after taking a year out from university.

Two months after returning from Chile in February 2020…

…I was offered my role with Hoare Lea in London as a façade access engineer and was extremely excited to get started. Unfortunately, a month later Covid turned the world upside down and my start date was put on hold… I spent the next eight months working with NHS 111 & Track & Trace, eagerly awaiting my start date. In January 2021, after months of anticipation, I started from Glasgow in the vertical transportation team, initially working in a hybrid role for my first eight months, supporting both the vertical transportation and the façade access team. I eventually moved to London in September 2021 and a few months later began working in the role I was most ardent about in façade access.

My primary focus is…

…to develop and implement a wide range of effective façade access strategies. I also hope to develop our team’s digital engineering capabilities which will assist us in doing this and provide more value to our clients.

What excites me most about my role…

…is the opportunity to work on some of the UK’s most interesting buildings. In particular, working on buildings which involve complex BMU strategies where I get to utilise my ever-expanding knowledge of Revit modelling to visualise the systems.

The more complex the building façade is, the more intricate the problem-solving required. I also enjoy networking within the building services and construction industry and developing relationships with knowledgeable and like-minded individuals.

Looking ahead…

…I am aiming to help our team grow and expand by undertaking new projects in the north of the UK. I hope to do so by working closely with our northern offices and also by developing new external relationships with potential clients such as the NHS.

A project which I am excited about in the coming months is Minerva House as it enters stage 4+. This is my first opportunity as a façade access engineer to deliver a BMU project, where I will coordinate the fine details and work through the tender process.

Outside of work…

…I enjoy an active lifestyle. I am an extremely keen and competitive golfer, I enjoy playing football, skiing/snowboarding, hill walking. Last year I climbed the tallest mountain in Slovenia!

I generally enjoy any sport that presents an opportunity for me to get involved.  I love to travel and see different parts of the world and my quest is to exceed 30 countries before I am 30. Only two to go!
