CR: STEM - Inspiring the next generation.

10/12/2017

We are committed to supporting and developing the next generation of engineers.

We actively support science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in schools.

Evidence provided by Engineering UK (with support from CBI and the Engineering Council) shows that there is a significant shortage of engineers in the UK. It is important therefore, to encourage more young people to study STEM subjects at a higher level.

Our organisation has thrived for more than 150 years by continually passing on our ethos, expertise, and even the firm itself to the next generation.

By promoting interest in STEM subjects at schools and colleges we can inspire the next generation to seek careers that will contribute towards their personal development and sustain industrial growth, which has obvious benefits for all. We work closely with schools, providing interactive workshops, and mini-lectures on STEM topics. Further to this, our activities include attending science festivals and fairs to support schools and giving industry input to schools to help develop how science topics are taught in the curriculum.

Hoare Lea has over 50 STEM Ambassador volunteers spread across our organisation. These are being co-ordinated in three regional groups – London and South East; North and Midlands; and South West and Wales – by our dedicated local coordinators.
