Our people

Eduardo Urinovsky

My working life began in South America many years ago. After immigrating to the UK in 1985 to complete an honours degree in energy engineering, I joined Hoare Lea – where I work with many interesting people who have become life-long friends. Like the property industry itself, my career has been eclectic and diverse. It has been wonderful to have had the opportunity to work with people of differing cultures, backgrounds and nationalities as it gives me a better understanding of the human aspects of our work as engineers.

Engineering human experiences.

I believe clients work with us, not just for our technical knowledge and expertise, but because they like us and for our ability to understand their needs and adapt our approach to their business. The challenge of interpreting a client’s brief, and then establishing how we translate this into the most appropriate engineering solutions is always motivating, and the opportunity to build long-term relationships with all members of the team is immensely rewarding.

A defining moment.

I am very lucky to have worked on many projects across all sectors, and particularly proud to have worked on an Exhibition Centre in Bournemouth in 1990 that was opened by Margaret Thatcher for the Tory Party’s conference – her last as Prime Minister! The pressure was on to complete the project on time and it reminds me of the vital link between engineering, business (and politics…) as well as the importance of collaborative teamwork.
