Cutting through the noise.
Following a BSc in Mechanical Engineering Science from Salford University, I started my career as a Hospital Engineer for Salford Area Health Authority. During this time, I managed teams of tradesmen operating and maintaining both the mechanical and electrical systems within various hospitals within the Area. This varied from brand-new buildings with modern theatres through to Victorian hospitals that were more than 100 years old.
For 10 years, I was Project Leader at the New British Library and, during this time, I discovered Expert Witness work, spending three years on a legal case, with 16 weeks in Court and three days in the witness box.
This exposure to insurers, solicitors and barristers, led me to independent expert witness work. In 2002 I joined Hoare Lea to set up the firm’s Expert Witness group and, in 2004, I was made a partner.
Being an expert witness is like doing a jigsaw with only half the pieces. In order to find what is missing, I assimilate vast amounts of detail to get to the heart of the issue and identify the cause of the problem.
I have a varied and interesting role, with work involving claims that relate to all aspects of MEP, which I get to investigate in a depth that would be impossible in normal project work.
For the last 20 years, I have worked on wide variety of matters. This has varied from simple burst pipes through to multi-billion dollar claims at airports and major infrastructure projects.
