Our People: Stephen Wreford.

A passion for digital capabilities.

Stephen is based in our London office and leads the Intelligent Buildings team.

My career journey…

…is multi-faceted! I have experience in many different aspects of  building technology, and I have lived in Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand.

I originally qualified as an environmental engineer and started my career at Staefa Control System. During this time, the world was transitioning from analogue to digital and I was beginning to see a shift in people’s behaviour and expectations. I worked on many prestigious construction projects and saw first-hand the blossoming of a new generation of digital control systems.

I then moved to Siemens and managed the global marketing and business responsibility for integration products.

In 2004 I founded…

… a technology organisation. I wanted to use my knowledge to develop smart building products, platforms, drivers and systems. I did this for twelve years and my team and I created over 80 award winning products that were installed in over 1000 projects worldwide.

I then moved to Hoare Lea…

… in 2019 and I haven’t looked back since. Moving here gave me the opportunity to use my experience. After years of delivering real technical products and marketing insights, it felt like the right time to step up and lead the intelligent building team.

Now, we are developing design strategies and governing the deployment of intelligent systems.

My team and I all have individual backgrounds and unique skills. Together, we collaborate and deliver value and tangible benefits to our clients.

I’m proud to…

… have such an expert team behind me. Every member has a proven track record in delivering intelligent building designs globally. We have three main values; business focused, empathy driven and underpinned by technology. With this…

…we listen, absorb and develop bespoke strategies and intelligent building designs.

The future…

… is already here! Intelligent buildings are becoming a necessity. Enabling free data flow from building systems to application will unlock potential return on investment opportunities and provide critical insights to support business decisions.

But, for me the most important point is that we can massively benefit the end users experience.
